September 23rd, 2013
We are proud to congratulate new board member Shanelle Matthews on her nomination for the 2013 Women's Media Center Social Media Award recognizing outstanding bloggers, social media gurus, activists, and new media makers for gender justice— and it's not too late to cast your vote for her!
Currently the Communications Strategist at ACLU of Northern California, Shanelle Matthews is also the mastermind behind many innovative social media campaigns, including Strong Families' Mama's Day blog and e-card series and the Still Wading blog series for the anniversary of Roe v Wade. She writes on the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality and has been published in a wide variety of publications, including Women’s eNews, The Root, Feministing, RH Reality Check and The Frisky. Shanelle is also co-editor of Birthing Justice — Saving Our Lives, an anthology of critical essays and personal testimonies exploring childbirth from a radical social justice perspective, slated for print next fall.
She's brilliant, she's witty, she knows her way around a hashtag, and we are lucky to have her commitment to the National Network of Abortion Funds.
