Bowl-a-Thon page of the week: Mel B., with the first ever El Paso Abortion Access Bowl-a-Thon!
Everything's bigger in Texas, including the Bowl-a-Thon: this year, the Lilith Fund is going balls out and holding Bowl-a-Thon events in FIVE cities, including a collaborative event with the new West Fund in El Paso. El Paso is in far west Texas on the border of Mexico (its sister city across the border is Juárez, and according to Wikipedia the pair of cities make up the largest bilingual, binational work force in the Western hemisphere.)
But there are only two clinics in the entire city, and those two clinics provide abortion care to women from two countries and most of west Texas.
The Lilith Fund points out, "with the new regulations passed in 2013, both of those clinics stand to close by the end of this year. El Paso and Juárez women deserve access to safe and available healthcare. We are excited to get our information out here in West Texas and raise funds to increase the number of women we can help!"
That's where Mel B. comes in!
"People deserve access to abortions regardless of income, race, gender, or any other factor," says Mel. "And when you donate, you are directly helping someone change their life. What could be more beautiful than that? I'll make a damn fool of myself on bowling lane, and enjoy every minute of it, knowing that we all came together to make a difference in the lives of West Texans!"
Mel bowls on April 5th in the first ever West Texas Abortion Access Bowl-a-Thon. Help her surpass her goal, here!
