A volunteer will write you back within 48 hours. The Freedom Fund will be billed directly by the clinic for any help they can give you.
The First Universalist Church started the Freedom Fund in 1984 when Colorado voted to end Medicaid funding of abortion for poor women. In 2010, the Freedom Fund became a project of the Mountain Desert District, a seven-state district of Unitarian Universalist congregations.
Mountain Desert District has taken on women’s reproductive rights as their primary social justice program. They also work on equality for the GLBT community and immigration rights. They have congregations in seven states – Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Nebraska.
For abortion funds, raising money is half the battle, because they can’t help women unless they have something to give. Donating to your local abortion fund means giving a woman the resources she needs to make the choice that is right for her.
